As Senior Vice President of Lang Research, Jim Matsui
is responsible for the majority of the public affairs
and public opinion polling projects. Jim has more than
20 years of experience in designing and executing social,
marketing and media research for public and private
sector clients.
Before joining Lang Research, Jim was Managing Director
of ComQUEST Research and President of Westmount Public
Affairs (an affiliate of Westmount Research Consultants
Incorporated). From 1984 to 1991, he was a partner at
Environics Research Group where he headed the Custom
Research Division. Prior to joining Environics, Jim
was a Research Officer at TVOntario responsible for
a number of behavioural and attitudinal research studies.
Jim specializes in public affairs research. Much
of the research that he has conducted in the past has
been with public sector clients. He is especially sensitive
to the needs of government clients, whose task it is
to implement and evaluate public policy initiatives.
Jim has undertaken public affairs studies, issues management
studies, policy and programme evaluation studies, environmental
assessments and long-term tracking studies for clients
at all levels of government -- federal, provincial or
regional, and municipal.
One of Jim's specific areas of expertise and interest
is in advanced statistical analyses and in particular,
psychographic segmentation techniques.
Jim holds an MA in Sociology from Rutgers University.
